Park Overview

Discover the ultimate Tanzanian outdoor adventure at Miti Asilia Adventures, located in the heart of Mkussu (Mkuzi) Forest Reserve just outside Lushoto in Tanga region. This untouched forest ecosystem offers a truly natural setting for eco-friendly tourism and forest-based activities for the whole family.

Soar through the treetops on our ziplines alongside endemic black-and-white colobus monkeys and challenge yourself on the first high ropes course in Tanzania, nestled in the highland forest canopy. There’s something for everyone at Miti Asilia Adventures.

High Ropes Course

Challenge yourself mentally and physically as you conquer obstacles high above the forest floor. Our ropes course features three routes of varying difficulty, so there’s something for everyone.

Ziplines

Experience the thrill of ziplining through Tanzania's lush forests with this adventurous capture.

Get your adrenaline pumping as you sail through the air from tree to tree attached to a high-grade steel cable. We have seven total ziplines scattered throughout our high ropes courses, totaling 150 meters in length.

Plan Your Day

Plenty of adventure awaits you at Miti Asilia Adventures, from an hour to a full day. Here’s a sample itinerary for a day trip from Lushoto:

  • 9:30 am: Leave hotel in Lushoto town, by car or bodaboda
  • 10:00 am: Arrive at Mkussu Forest Reserve, walk the smooth 600-meter path from the entrance to the Miti Asilia Adventures reception building
  • 10:15: Arrive at Miti Asilia, begin check-in
  • 10:30: Complete ropes course equipment outfitting & orientation. Start conquering obstacles and flying down ziplines high up in the trees, trying out all available courses and getting the perfect photo.
  • 12:30: Feel a sense of accomplishment as your time window comes to a close. Return equipment at the reception building.
  • 12:45: Head down to Mkuzi Waterfalls, a five-minute walk from the reception building. Cool off in the natural pool and enjoy your packed lunch on the picnic tables or rocks. Toilets are also available.
  • 1:45: Walk back to the parking area
  • 2:15: Return to Lushoto town

Where to Find Us

We are located in Mkussu Forest Reserve, near Mkuzi Waterfalls. The park is just a 30 minute drive from Lushoto town. Most of the drive is paved, with the last three kilometers on a well-maintained dirt road. A taxi to or from town costs TZS 20,000. Motorcycles (bodabodas) are also readily available for around TZS 10,000 per way.
